Meine unglaubliche Zara die mich seit ihrem Debüt eigentlich nie enttäuscht hat lanciert "Never Forget You" als 2. Single ihres zweiten Albums.<br>Die Zusammenarbeit mit MNEK ist sehr gut ausgefallen, ihr steht einfach alles, über Balladen, reinen Pop Songs und solchen Dance Krachern, sie vermag mich einfach immer zu überzeugen!<br><br>Vorerst 5*+ |

Also wenn ich nachdenke finde ich den Track irgendwie komisch und wenn ich den Kopf abschalte flashts mich weg.<br><br>Gefällt mir irgendwie extrem diese UK-Produktion zusammen mit ihrer Stimme. Der Text ist auch gut und Zara und MNEK harmonieren sehr sehr gut. Alles in allem ein sehr gelungener Song welcher durchaus Hit-Potenzial besitzt. Kaum zu glauben, dass es nach dem coolen «Uncover» und dem mehr als mässigen «Lush Life» nochmals eine Stufe tiefer geht. Dieser Nerv-Beat und die hysterische, jedoch komplett erfolglose Suche nach zumindest einer halbwegs sinnvollen Tonfolge (genannt "Melodie") machen diesen Track zur totalen Nullnummer.

This song is just so average for me in every way. I think it is always going to inhabit that space for me in that I will never like it or dislike it, it will just be permanently average, which is the way I feel about Rihanna's "Diamonds" and Haim's "The Wire".<br><br>While I'm talking about Rihanna, if you told me that this song were performed by Rihanna feat. Vinz (of Nico & Vinz), I wouldn't even question you. If this song were performed by those two instead of ZL & MNEK, I don't think it would sound all that different.<br><br>I don't really know how this became a hit, and I would've preferred "Lush Life" becoming the hit instead, but it looks like her superior song might still have its time yet. |

What I find interesting is that in a way, this sounds nothing like the standard affair of big pop duets, which probably has something to do with appealing to a younger crowd, since the average age of the performers was about 19 when this song was released. It's a bit surprising that it doesn't alienate all the bases it's trying to touch, because it feels like a bit of an awkward listen.<br><br>But inevitably, it does fall back on the crutch of the typical pop duet: because it would seem that the only way you can truly convince an audience of chemistry is to have both singers awkwardly sing over each other for the final chorus...lo and behold! There's a feeling of disappointment I have with this song. When I first listened to it, I was expecting something more like MNEK's usual fare. So when I got this I was a bit disappointed. After all, this doesn't hold a candle to pretty much everything I've heard with MNEK's vocals on it before. When you factor in MNEK's production discography alongside that, it's even more disappointing that the end result was this.<br><br>But that's not totally fair, as it did grow on me. I think Zara's voice suits this song more than MNEK's, but both are reasonably good. Could do without some of the more awkward moments (like when they try and sing over the top of each other) though. The beat drop is an odd inclusion for this type of song, but makes more sense for something MNEK had a hand in. It's fine and adds something different to what can usually be found in this type of song. Lyrically it's cheesy but gosh I know that feeling all too well. I might be past that stage now but it is worth pointing out given how immediate my attraction to this person was, and how I'd dreamt of bigger things with this person which obviously didn't work out. Not only that, but how long it took me to get over him. Definitely not my favourite hit in recent times but I haven't got sick of it at least, and if this leads to MNEK getting another hit in Australia I can't complain too much. |
