The chorus is so irresistibly catchy with the repetition working to great effect without becoming annoying in any way. It's a fine line to tread but it's worked perfectly here. I've also long been a fan of alternating male and female vocals in a call and response type style, and while they aren't used exactly in that way here, I do love the way the two singers sound together. Their voices complement each other very well. Describing the story of a broken friendship, the sad lyrics are paired with such a jovial sound making the song sound so much more fun than it could have; a very clever contrast. The folksy sound is kind of like a mix of Avicii and Of Monsters And Men, in the best way possible. The upbeat nature of the whole track is what really sells it for me, what a delight! |
