*** The saddest thing listening to this 18 years after it was released is just how dated everything sounds. And how same sounding it is. He Wasn't Man Enough was a real jam, a banger for a good reason. It's still a fresh listen that I enjoy, mostly for the attitude and the sharp production. Unfortunately, the rest of this really fails to hold up against this, with the rest of it ranging from slow moving ballads and middle of the road R&B that has nothing catchy or exciting happening. The voice is not so much a feature here, which is a shame because of course she can sing, unfortunately this sounds like it was more geared towards urban radio as opposed to trying for solid pop hits. A bit of a let down for me. 3.3/6. |
